BYD stated on 28 July 2026 to the China Securities Journal that it will present its first physical prototype of a humanoid robot in August 2026 at its 'Di Space' experience centres, its network of demonstration and outreach venues. According to CnEVPost, this should be the first public presentation of a hardware unit of the machine, nicknamed 'Xiao Di', rather than a concept announcement.

Announced specifications

The details below are those communicated by the manufacturer and picked up by specialist press.

  • Dimensions : 1.61 metres tall and 58.5 kilograms.
  • Joints : 31 degrees of freedom (DOF) across the entire body, including 7 per hand.
  • Languages : real-time bidirectional translation covering six Chinese dialects and six foreign languages.
  • Perception : 360-degree panoramic vision, face recognition, lip reading and gesture recognition.

The teaser video published on 25 July 2026 by the Zhengzhou Di Space centre — which kr-asia.com spells 'D Space' — announces that the robot will not be presented through a stack of specifications and jargon, but through an interactive experience aimed at the public.

Targeted deployment at sales outlets

Stella Li, Executive Vice-President of BYD, stated on 28 July 2026 that she hopes each of the group’s sales outlets will eventually host two to three robots, with robotic sales advisors expected to be operational within one to two years. She clarified that these robots will not replace the human emotional connection in sales.
