Standardisation

The process of developing and publishing enforceable technical standards, defining the minimum requirements (safety, performance, interoperability) for a category of products or systems. In robotics, standardisation sets the regulatory framework that manufacturers must comply with. Not to be confused with certification (verification of compliance with a standard) or regulation (the applicable law).
