Perception stack
The set of hardware and software components that allow a robot to perceive its environment: cameras, depth sensors (LiDAR, etc.) and the associated processing. In 2025-2026, this item alone accounts for around 20,000 USD on a humanoid robot — the equivalent of the target cost of the complete machine — making it the main obstacle to economic viability.
